A new wave of investment is reshaping the island&#8217;s innovation landscape, bringing with it cutting-edge technologies, bold sustainability commitments, and a surge of confidence in Puerto Rico&#8217;s ability to lead the future of life sciences.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the heart of this momentum are companies like <strong>Eli Lilly<\/strong>, <strong>Amgen<\/strong>, and <strong>AstraZeneca<\/strong>, making billion-dollar bets not just on infrastructure, but on Puerto Rico\u2019s people, its ecosystem, and its strategic importance in the global supply chain.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Wave of Investment a Surge of Confidence<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From Eli Lilly\u2019s historic $1.2 billion expansion in Carolina, just outside of San Juan, to Amgen\u2019s $650 million project in the central town of Juncos, global companies are reaffirming what the industry has known for decades: Puerto Rico is essential to their future.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In total, these projects represent over <strong>$2 billion in new investment<\/strong>, the creation of more than <strong>4,000 jobs<\/strong>, and a major vote of confidence in Puerto Rico&#8217;s ecosystem of innovation:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Eli Lilly<\/strong> will establish a next-generation manufacturing facility for its new oral obesity treatment, investing <strong>$1.2 billion<\/strong>, <strong>adding 100 high-skill jobs<\/strong>, and implementing sustainable infrastructure that will meet <strong>85%<\/strong> of the site\u2019s energy demand.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Amgen<\/strong> is expanding its flagship site in Juncos with a $650 million investment and <strong>750 new jobs<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Coopervision<\/strong> is investing <strong>$500 million<\/strong> in the southern towns of Juana D\u00edaz and Ponce, creating <strong>700 new positions<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Terumo Puerto Rico<\/strong> has opened a <strong>$45 million<\/strong> medical device facility in Caguas, with <strong>180 new hires<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Millicent Pharma<\/strong> is investing <strong>$45.5 million<\/strong> in Fajardo.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Carelon Global Solutions<\/strong> is creating <strong>over 300 jobs<\/strong> in Mayag\u00fcez through a <strong>$10 million expansion<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>iPR Pharmaceuticals<\/strong>, part of AstraZeneca, recently launched a $9.7 million Bio Solar Park in Can\u00f3vanas to reduce emissions and increase energy independence\u2014reaching a 60% reduction in carbon footprint.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Though not operating in life science space directly, it\u2019s worth noting that<strong> Dot AI<\/strong> and <strong>Solx<\/strong> are leading new tech-driven manufacturing projects in Barceloneta and Aguadilla, respectively, focused on AI systems and solar panels that address the needs of companies in the sector.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Por Qu\u00e9 Elegir PR<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Puerto Rico&#8217;s life sciences sector has earned its global status.
